G'Day Mate, Welcome Aboard!

Mac's Navy Links: The Australian Edition

I spent the month of May 2009 with my family, on a dream trip to Australia, a country that has long been in our hearts and minds. After a 24 hour series of flights halfway around the world, we began exploring Sydney, then flew on to Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. We spent a week on the Gold Coast during a ferocious series of storms, that all but washed away Surfers Paradise. The resilience and warmth of the Australian people through all of this touched us deeply. Then it was back to Sydney for a few days to explore this incredible city further. It was a very sad day when we boarded the aircraft for the long trip home. News that RAN ships were leaving Sydney for the Atlantic seemed a great way to round out the Australian Edition. Unfortunately, despite my best efforts to arrange a photo shoot, I couldn't be accomodated by the Navy, during their week long port visit to Halifax. We hope to return to Australia shortly to cover Perth, Darwin and Cairns to complete this Naval photo album. No other Navy's history more closely parallels Canada's. This website is a division of Macs Navy Links, and it is intended to make historic and current Navy Ships accessible to those who cant visit for themselves. We hope you will enjoy your visit. We most certainly did......
